Gee, this month has flown by. I'm about 8 hours away from finally being on holiday and it can't come a minute sooner.

I'm going to be away for a week or so, soaking up sun and wine. Bliss. I'll be back in the new year, with more hunk pictures and perhaps a wrap up of all the best things in 2006.

So, whatever you celebrate this holiday season (Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa), I hope it is a safe and joyful one. And here's to 2007!

I've been discussing accents with a friend this week. In particular, how certain accents are sexy.

I like British accents, though not all British accents appeal (can't say I like a Scouse accent or a Geordie one but that's because I can't actually understand what they're saying LOL). But a Hugh Grant or Daniel Craig kind of accent and I'm all a quiver.

I once went out with an Irishman and I loved his accent (and his ability to hold his booze LOL). He could charm the knickers off me just by saying a few words LOL.

I also had a mad crush on a French flatmate when I lived in London. The way he said my name was so sexy and alluring, though he could've just said the capital cities of Europe and I'd have been just as enamoured.

I also love Italian/Spanish/Portuguese accents.

I don't think I have a very "thick" New Zealand accent (no Lyn of Tawa here) but it is a noticeable accent. (If you want to hear a voice that is a "kiwi" voice, click here, check out New Zealand Two and you'll hear something to similar to my voice).

When I lived overseas people thought I was Australian (so much for thinking I had a smooth dulcet tone of voice LOL). Or they'd think I'd be asking for a "pin", when I was wanting a "pen". Though after years of travelling and living abroad, I did return home with a different accent (my sister said I sounded posh LOL).

Not that I ever need an excuse to post pictures of good looking men, but it has come to my attention, that Fabio Cannavaro has been named FIFA World Player of the Year.

You may recall me raving about Cannavaro during the Football World Cup earlier this year (he captained Italy to the title).

So to celebrate this wonderful achievement, I thought I'd remind everyone who Cannavaro is...

(That's him on the left there, in the D&G undie ad).

I've got no motivation to do anywork today, or for the rest of the week.
It seems like everyone else is on holiday mode, I'm watching people from my office window enjoying the harbour and sun and sea views, while I sit here and think about what I will be doing over the Christmas/New Year period.

Such as...

Eating/drinking at:

Sileni Estate - A fantastic winery in Hawkes Bay

Craggy Range - Another award winning winery in Hawkes Bay

Hanging out at the beach:

Waimarama - "My" beach since I was in nappies

And the sights of the roadtrip we'll be taking:

Anaura Bay and Tolaga Bay

Ohope Beach

Sometimes I wonder why I am friends with a particular friend of mine.

We've known each other for years, since university. She's bright, successful, ambitious, attractive (so nothing like me then LOL). And she's also a master of the backhanded compliment.

For example, today when I met her for lunch, she commented on my weight loss (over 10kgs so far). While most friends have been really supportive and positive, she said "10kgs? That's good.... though you obviously have quite a bit more to lose". Grrrr.

And I never forget the time she commented on my new haircut which "makes your face look so slim!" LOL.

I might just be a tad busy the next time she calls and wants to go to lunch.

Is it just me, or does it strike you as odd that Wellington Zoo's nearest neighbour is the Wellington Gun Club? I just have visions of a less than accurate shooter inadvertently firing at the red pandas!

Why are bra's so expensive? I just spent $130 today on a bra and pair of knickers. Nothing fancy (no Italian or French labels), but $80 for a bit of lace fabric and wire? I think the bra must be one of the most expensive items of clothing if you do a cost over amount of fabric formula.

Fatties Club is going well - I've lost over 10kgs in 6 weeks and am really chuffed. Still have about another 10kg to go (15kg really) so hopefully by the time I hit those weddings in January, February and March I'll be able to squeeze myself into a slinky little number.

I'm going on a road trip in the New Year! BF and I will head out on January 2 for a week of tiki-touring around the East Coast. I've never been further than Gisborne, so it should be fun. We'll drive up the coast and along to Tolaga Bay, Te Araroa, Opotiki and end up at Ohope Beach.

You know, they say women are the impulse buyers. But I'd like to introduce you to my boyfriend.

I got home late last night (around 11.30pm) after going to two functions (work related, so lots of wine but lots of crusty old men too! Would it hurt to have some decent eye candy to look at whilst listening to speeches about NZs bilateral trade and economic relations with Japan?) and had my boyfriend drag me outside, in the pitch black, to see the garden and his new purchase.

A BBQ. And not just any BBQ, oh no.
This space age looking thing. I swear you could fly this thing to the fucking moon! You need a bloody engineering degree to even figure out how to assemble it LOL (lucky he's a smart guy, though he did confess it took him 3 hours to put it together). He was so pleased with himself, he was like a little kid at Christmas LOL. Now of course, he can't wait to use it, so he's invited some mates around tomorrow night for the "Inaugural Grill" of the year. I'm out that night (girls night Christmas drink) so won't be partaking.

He also bought a coffee machine, which was sitting proudly in all it's shining red glory on the bench. It's a pretty stylie machine, very funky. He couldn't understand why a coffee junkie like myself doesn't have a coffee machine (although I do have one of those stove top espresso pots). I didn't have the heart to tell him that one of the perks of my day is when I get off the bus in the morning and head straight to the wee Italian cafe and flirt with the cute brown-eyed barista boy as he makes my takeaway espresso LOL.

In completely random news now - Daniel Craig has topped the World's Sexiest Man poll, conducted by condom maker, Durex. I haven't seen Casino Royale yet, but I have seen a picture of him in his budgie smugglers swimsuit. Phwaor.

The full list. dominated by British stars is:

1. Daniel Craig

2. Clive Owen

3. Jude Law

4. Steve Jones

5. George Clooney

6. Johnny Depp

7. David Beckham

8. Robbie Williams

9. Orlando Bloom

10. Pierce Brosnan

I would've put Johnny Depp and David Beckham higher up, taken off Orlando (too effette looking) and Pierce Brosnan (too smug and smarmy looking LOL). Also, Jude Law doesn't really appeal, something a bit dodgy about him. I have no idea who Steve Jones is either, may have to Google him I suspect.

This is a public service announcement!

Last night, the live-in lovah and I were getting all naked and having some fun, things are heating up and I'm getting hot... and hot and oh-my-god-that's-burning hot.

So damn hot that I yank his hands from my undies and race to the bathroom 'cos I swear there are flames shooting out my hoo-ha!

Seriously, something is wrong in the state of my nether regions LOL. It's like someone but deep heat in there! I'm hopping around in the bathroom trying to get cold water on the affected area, all the while he is standing at the door, trying not to laugh.

I wonder if this is what Brandon Davis meant when he called Lindsay Lohan 'firecrotch' LOL.

Anyway, as the burning is easing to a more bearable slow smoulder (bikini wax can wait a few weeks now!), I figured it out.

Live-in had cooked dinner, a yummy spicy Thai chicken dish. And he'd been cutting up chillies. Lots of chillies. Despite washing hands, doing dishes and stuff, he'd probably hadn't completely got rid of the chilli oil from his hands before we were tackling each other on the bed.

Chillies and delicate lady parts do not go together! So, word to the wise... don't eat chillies and then get your boyfriend to play around LOL.

I've learnt my lesson.

And now I'm off to buy some gloves for kitchen preparation LOL.

Cheeky mare!

Wonder how I go about signing up? LOL

Today has been a sucky day.

This morning I went for a long walk, thinking the weather would hold until I got back, I didn't bother with a jacket. Bad mistake. About 35 minutes into the walk, the skies opened and it poured down. Torrential rain, and wind and here I am stuck in it. No phone to call a friend to come get me, no money to jump on a bus, so I trudged another 25 minutes in the rain. By the time I got back, my lips were blue and I was freezing. Took me about half in hour in the shower to feel my toes again.

Then later on in the morning, as I was doing some baking (passionfruit melting moments, mmm), I burnt three fingers really badly as I was getting out the biscuits from the oven (the oven mitt slipped and my poor wee fingers melted against the metal.) It fucking hurt! I now have no fingerprints on the middle three fingers of my right had LOL.

I should've quit then, but instead I decided to do a spot of cleaning, only to come a cropper in the bathroom when I slipped on the floor (stupid bloody white tiled floor!) and cracked the back of my head on the bath. Yeah. That fucking hurt too. I have a huge egg size bump now. Very tender.

To make matters worse, the live-in boyfriend is away this weekend, so I've got noone to whinge and whine too. I think that sucks even more LOL.

Yesterday, the boyfriend moved in.

Everything seemed to go smoothly. Though he did have to take out a window to get some of the bigger items in. Luckily the window is easy to take out and put back in again. Especially considering the stormy weather that hit overnight.

The bedroom does however, resemble an outdoor sporting goods shop, with a kayak, three surfboards, dive gear and a tent. Luckily my bedroom is huge, so it's not so bad.

It was nice having someone to wake up to this morning, but I'm going to have to get used to sharing a duvet again. I'm a duvet hog, I like to wrap it around me so I'm practically mummified LOL. This sharing thing is going to take some time LOL.

So I've been mucking around on Old Friends, seeing what some of the people I went to primary, intermediate and secondary school with, are up to.

I looked up a boy that I had my first kiss and first er, fondle LOL with, at intermediate school (Intermediate is the two years of school before you go to high school - aged usually 11-13). He's now married with three kids, the eldest is 15! Yikes.

And it really does seem that over 90% of people I went to high school with are married with kids!

And many of them never escaped, fled, run like the wind, get out get out get out while you can!, left our small hometown. Poor things LOL. I just can't imagine never leaving the place you were born and grew up. Aren't they curious as what else is out there? Other cities, cultures?

I also looked up my arch nemisis (I sound like a cartoon character LOL). She was the bain of my existence at high school. We were very similar academically and we were really competitive (until I reached 7th Form and got a serious boyfriend and discovered sex! LOL). She used to irk me something chronic. Everything I did, she did. If I got the latest hot pink kung-fu shoes, so did she. If I got 92 for the Shakespeare essay in English, she got 92! LOL. Now I see she's a lawyer for a big firm. I actually wouldn't mind catching up with her again, it could be a laugh.

Or a total nightmare... echoes of Single White Female are suddenly flashing through my mind LOL.

Today is my parents 32nd Wedding Anniversary.

Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad!

A pretty great achievement. They've been married since they were only 18 & 20, both young parents at the time (I came before the wedding, by about 4 months LOL).

I am so amazed at how strong, passionate and successful their relationship is. Sure, it's not been plain sailing all the time, but 32 years (and a few more, they married after dating 4 years) is a great commitment.

What I find interesting though, is that both my sister and I are quite anti-marriage. My sister has been in a long-term relationship for 10 years (and has three kids) with absolutely no desire to get married. And of course, my stance on marriage is "never never never, no no no!" LOL.

I wonder why that is? Surely the example my parents set (and both sets of grandparents who were married for 51 years and more than 30 years) would be something of an insight into marriage and how to make it last?

Or is it that both my sister and I fear that we'll fail. That we'll be the first ones in our family to have a relationship breakdown (only one person in my entire family, and I mean extended to 3rd and 4th cousins, and I have an extended family into the 100s, is divorced). Do I fear that I'll never "live up" to the unspoken expectations of marriage? Would I rather not try, than do so and get it wrong?

I'm not sure.

But whatever the reasons, I am so happy that my parents have lasted this long. They adore each other, are each others best friends and love unconditionally. Even I know thats the kind of relationship I want, even if it is outside the bonds of marriage.

I left my cellphone in the office over the weekend.

Of course, I could've gone into the office on Saturday to get it, but I'd left my security card on my desk. I also could've called a colleague to let me in, however, I don't know where any of my colleagues live, so couldn't find them in the white pages.

So all weekend I felt naked and lost.

I had to go all old school and call people on my landline! How novel. And I had to use my old address book, as I couldn't remember peoples numbers off the top of my head.

Isn't it funny how reliant you become on technology... all weekend I fretted about my phone, thinking of ALL the texts, pxts and phone calls I'd be missing.

I get to work this morning, and I have one text message LOL. So much for Miss Popularity!

Yesterday I went for a walk with my friend, it was quite a warm day (I got sunburned neck/shoulders and that's after I smothered myself in sunblock!). As we were strolling along one of the pretty beaches along the Wellington south coast, I blurted out to my friend "I had sex on this beach once!" (why I felt the urge to tell her that, I don't know LOL). She looked at me, laughed and said "me too!". Ah kindred spirits.

We then went to tell each other all the weird/interesting places we've had sex over the years. My listed included these wee gems:

  • Pool table (please, no jokes about sinking the black LOL)
  • A church (which wasn't a good idea as this is the 'family' church, and every time there is a funeral or wedding or christening, I'm reminded of how much a naughty girl I was)
  • Train going to Portsmouth (carriage was empty)
  • Cricket pitch (howzat!)
  • Lady Norwood Rose Garden (rose garden in the Botanical Gardens)
  • My sisters house (didn't want to wake the kids when we were meant to be babysitting LOL)
  • On the boot (trunk) of a car
  • Toilets at a wedding
  • Swimming pool
  • In the water at a secluded private beach
  • On the deck of a boat

My friends list was equally as funny, though she's more risque than me LOL.
