I was reading the Sam and the City blog on SMH today, and came across the topic of "to show skin or not to show skin" and questions such as:

How much skin is appropriate? ... also, what is appropriate night-time gear for men.

(Go here for the whole article).

I'm firmly in the school of less skin = sexier. I find covering up is more alluring, hidden and subtle. Not hanging out for all to see. There's no suspense, no mystery if everything and your tits are on show. I think it's more interesting if somethings are covered up, of course, there are times when a bit of skin can look really sexy, but it has to be the right outfit.

I think why some women get it wrong is that they think sexy = showing everything. It should be a balance. If you're showing off your cleavage, keep the bottom half covered up and if you show off your legs, keep the top conservative. Otherwise it looks cheap and trashy.

Like this woman, Coco (wife of rapper/actor Ice-T)

I don't have the words to describe the horror of this one. The fugliness of it all has made me mute. She does not look sexy or classy. She looks like a hooker! How can anyone find this sexy? It's one trash-tastic mess!

Contrast with this gorgeous picture of Kate Winslet.

Isn't she just stunning. She's showing some skin but not everything is hanging out. She looks hot. Sexy and stylish. And this is probably my favourite dress ever worn by a celebrity. So gorgeous.

Personally, any bloke, nay, make that any person who thinks that Coco woman looks sexier than Kate Winslet is a complete twat LOL.

Now, what do I think men should wear to bed? (First I'd just like a man in the bed fullstop LOL). I like the boxers or pj bottoms. No t-shirt though, bare chest preferred. I've only had one boyfriend who slept naked, which didn't bother me until one Saturday morning, when he walked into the lounge where I was talking to the neighbour. He hadn't heard me open the door to the neighbour and invite her in for a chat, and he came walking out if the bedroom, starkers. That was quite funny LOL.

Last night I went out and had a great night at a bar and came home with takeaways.

A gorgeous young maori boy called Dylan*

Two things I noticed about Dylan. No tan lines (he was caramel coloured all over) and he's a talker.

A dirty talker.

At first, I didn't mind it. I mean, I quite like a bit of sexy dirty talk, but then it started to get a tad weird, it was like he was doing a commentary on his performance! (Or singing a few lines from that Freak Me song by Another Level).

I was sorely tempted to just tell him to shut the hell up so we could just shag. In the end, I kept kissing him so he couldn't talk LOL.

Apart from that, it was a lovely evening.

I must get takeaways more often LOL.

*not his real name

The hiatus is over.

I'm knackered, have sore and achy feet and have worked 16 hour days over the past two weeks.

On the upside, I lost 2 kilos and got a pay rise and bonus! Yay me.

Today I got a new lush dark and glossy hair colour and a very funky short hair style. Feeling a bit sassy LOL.

Bring on the weekend, where I plan to drink a lot of wine, catch up with friends, see a few movies and shop! I've not stepped foot in a shoe store for two weeks. I'm having withdrawal symptoms LOL.

But it's so good to be back. I'd forgotten what my office looked like. Pity the office didn't forget me, I've got a pile of paperwork to get through.

Due to some work commitments that will occupy most of my time for the next few weeks, I'll not be posting on the blog for a while.

So in my absence, I leave you with these fine images...

Friday night was a lot of fun, a lot of drinking, eating and talking. We didn't go to Boogie Wonderland, as we were too interested in gossiping LOL.

I managed to get home at a fairly respectable 2.30am and though drunk, I wasn't fall down flat on face in the middle of the bed fully clothed drunk LOL. (Which has happened on more than one occasion).

However, I awoke early on Saturday morning with a terrible hangover. I think the disparity between the amount of alcohol consumed and the strength of the hangover was huge, and totally unfair. I had the dry horrors, felt pukey, a bad headache and generally shitty LOL.

I think I suffered more because I haven't been drinking a lot on a regular basis, my body has lost its drink "conditioning" LOL.

I'd arranged to meet a friend for brunch on Saturday, and because I knew we were just going to our "local" cafe, I thought I wouldn't need to get dressed properly, so didn't bother with a shower, just threw on some old, very saggy faded jeans, a grey hoodie with a hole in the armpit and a stain of questionable origin on the front, old trainers and pulled my hair into a greasy ponytail (and ignored the red zit on my chin).

A big stack of pancakes with maple syrup and a giant apple juice went some way to alleviate the symptoms of my hangover (but what I really needed was a KFC Chicken Burger and a large Sparkling Duet LOL).

You know that when you look like shit you're bound to bump into people you know... people you don't want to see you looking like shit! LOL. Not only was an ex-boyfriend at the cafe (looking very stylish and cool), so too was my cousin and his snooty girlfriend (I got the look up and down and then a pitying smile...bitch LOL).

Thinking the humiliation had lasted long enough, my friend and I left the cafe and I thought I was safely enroute home. But no. My friend wanted to go to The Warehouse and check out BBQs. Argh! (But seeing as she was my ride home, I didn't want to complain too much LOL). So I had to schlep around the red shed feeling like shit and seeing more people I didn't want to see - a former work colleague, a guy I went to university with, an old primary school friend - how come I have never seen these people around town before now? Why today when I look so terrible? I tell you, someone doesn't like me very much LOL.

Honestly, I couldn't wait to get home. All day I'd felt frumpy and greasy and blah LOL. I made my friend take me to KFC to get a chicken burger on the way home, as it was the only think I knew would make the hangover go away.

Today I feel much better, must be the KFC! LOL.

I'm going out tonight.

Yep, that's right. I finally have a social engagement that doesn't involve me and a TV.

Cocktails with the girls, then dinner at Boulot and then more drinking.

I'm sure one of my friends will try and drag us along to Boogie Wonderland, though that will depend on how much alcohol we've imbibed by then LOL.

I'm looking forward to a good night.

So, I bit the bullet today and signed up for a managed weightloss programme.

Over the last year to 18 months, I've found it harder to lose weight, despite eating right, exercising daily etc. I also was worried that I might be a candidate for diabetes if I don't get this increased weight gain under control.

So I went to the doctor and he tested my thyroid. Turns out I have hypothyroidism. With my doctors help, we've come up with a great plan for me to lose weight and get my thyroid back to normal. I'm using a combination of western and chinese medicine (I have acupuncture, take chinese herbs as well as levothyoxine). He also suggested I try a managed weightloss programme that he had found worked really well with his other patients controlling their thyroid levels and struggling to lose weight.

It's not Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers, but is a programme that is individually tailored to your specific medical conditions (e.g. if you have diabetes, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol etc).

Anyway, I went to meet the consultant today and find out more. It looks like a really good programme for me. It's not a starvation programme, nor do you have to buy any special foods or products, you get to eat quite a bit too! You have one-on-one consultations weekly, your health is monitored etc. So hopefully we'll see some positive results.

Side note: I have to laugh at the latest Jenny Craig ads with the woman who lost 5kgs on Jenny Craig? 5kgs? Come on. As my sister so crassly put it, "I've had dumps bigger than that" LOL.

So, wish me luck at Fatties Club!

So, I went to see WOW over the weekend. I really enjoyed it. It was much more than a fashion show. It was a well choreographed mix of dance, music, burlesque, acrobatics and of course, wearable art. Though I have to say I did spend a bit of time looking at the half naked male dancers in lycra tights LOL. Some of the creations were really impressive. Talk about talented!

I got a juice from Ed's today (Leila's Dream yum - peach, strawberry, passionfruit and apple). Ed's is a funky juice bar/cafe - vegetarian and vegan juices and food, and I saw the best sticker ever!

Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks

So true LOL. I hate Starbucks coffee, it's revolting. I've had two or three coffees from Starbucks (one here, one in London and one in New York LOL) and they were so tepid, watery and blech. Plus, I'd rather support smaller, independent cafes (like Ed's). When I walk past Starbucks (there's two along Lambton Quay, one on Courtenay Place) I see the same kind of people in there - Asian students (I will generalise and say that Asian nations are not big coffee drinkers) and young teenagers (again, will generalise and say that teenagers aren't real big coffee drinkers). Plus I don't see the appeal of frappucino's (ooh, cold coffeee? Puke.). Or adding syrups, cream etc. I actually like the taste of coffee (quelle horreur!), so don't want to mask it with another flavour. Why have a coffee then? But that's just me. I'm sure to some, Starbucks is the champagne of coffee LOL.
