Well, I'm finally feeling better now. That cold lingered like nerds at a comic book convention. It would not go away!

It was an interesting few days, the highlight probably being seeing David Beckham in a speedo. I would put the pictures of him taken from the front, but I like to see his tight butt in white!

What a body.

I also got many 'funny' text messages and emails from family making fun of my 'toy boy boyfriend' LOL. (First up Tart Family, he's not my boyfriend!). Most of them were along the lines of "Hey, if Josh is too old for you, I'm sure one of [name of my cousin who is turning 21 and having a big party next week] mates will be up for it". Oh. Hahahaha.

Speaking of Josh LOL, we're still in email/text/phone contact. He's coming down to Wellington in a few weeks for my birthday, which will be great. I'll get a birthday shag!

I went shopping on the weekend - I have quite a few friends and family birthdays this month (6, I think). Of course, I didn't buy anyone's present, I ended up buying myself a pair of jeans, a pair of trousers, a necklace from Ruby and a gorgeous wrap dress. Oops.

Tonight I'm off to see Gentille, a French film currently screening as part of the New Zealand Film Festival. It looks good. But I'm a Francophile film buff, so I'll see anything French and love it LOL.

I have come down with a terrible head cold! Fuzzy head, itchy eyes, blocked nose, sore throat and a headache. Yay. I can hardly breathe, let alone work, but here I am, infecting the rest of the office with my germs LOL.

Because my brain isn't functioning well and I am concerned that all you 8 people reading this blog will get bored, here's a list of other websites to entertain you while I take a wee break from blogging and get over this cold.

Smart Bitches, Trashy Novels
This website is bloody brilliant. They are indeed, smart bitches. As they say, come for the Dominican Bitches and stay for the man titty! Their latest post, a cover contest is a hoot.

It's My Blog and I'll Say What I Want To!
Another very smart blog by a rather acerbic, witty and funny blogger, Karen Scott. She tells it like it is and ain't afraid of bitch slapping people when they need it (including best selling authors like Mary Janice Davidson).

Overheard in New York
This site never fails to make me laugh, when you're there, check out Overheard in the Office for a few more giggles.

Time Ticker
Want to know what the time is in Croatia? Use this site, it's easy. And it ticks!

Style.com
For all the news on what's hot in fashion.

Oh No They Didn't
Gossip blog site, scroll down for pictures of David Beckham in a small white speedo *nice*

That's it.

I'm off home now, to wallow in self pity over my pathetic cold.

I am at work at the moment but I can't concentrate at all.

My mind keeps thinking about the most amazing weekend I just had. It was the best!

After work on Friday, I met up with a dozen or so family and friends (these are friends of my parents that I've known all my life) that had come to Wellington for the rugby test on Saturday. Everyone was at the pub when I arrived and it was so great to see them all again. After a few hugs, kisses, "it's good to see you again" and "how are you?"s, I settled in around the table, with a glass of wine to catch up. As I was chatting to my aunt and working out was there, she mentions that Tom and Josh had come down from Auckland as well, and points them out.

(Tom is one of my father's oldest and dearest friends. They've been friends since they were kids. Josh is Tom's son. Josh and I kind of grew up together, he's 7 years younger though).

I haven't seen Josh since he was about 11 or 12 and boy, has he grown up fine LOL.

I went over to say hello to them and, as cliche as this sounds, as soon as I said hello to Josh and gave him a kiss on the cheek, I felt this spark. This tingle of electricity. He must have felt it too, because we just clicked. We talked (and yeah, I flirted majorly LOL) and, when we left the pub to head out for dinner, we kept on talking and talking (and flirting and flirting). Reminiscing about 'old times', laughing about the weird things his younger sister did (she used to eat snails and dirt, and throw mammoth temper tantrums, and who is now studying to be a lawyer LOL) and finding out about each other now.

(FYI - Josh is 24, tall, slim, dark hair, gorgeous blue eyes - with incredibly long eyelashes LOL - he's a structural engineer, funny and way way smart).

Tom, and everyone else, finds this quite noticeable and of course, we got shit for it LOL. Though I noticed that Tom was sort of encouraging it a bit too LOL.

Come 2am and it's time to go home. I left alone (come on, I could hardly take him home with me with my aunt, three uncles, his father and all their friends looking on LOL).

As I'm in the cab on the way home, I get a text message from Josh and we proceed to text message for a good hour or so (phoneplay instead of foreplay I guess you could say) and we arranged to met for brunch on Saturday.

Okay, to cut a long story a bit shorter, we spent all of Saturday morning together, went to the rugby* (he had seats somewhere else), went to the pub after the game with everyone else and then at the end of the night I asked him back to my place LOL. By that stage, I didn't care if my family or old family friends thought I was a skanky-ho, I really wanted to spend the night with Josh as I fancied the goddamn pants off of him LOL.

So he came home with me and we shagged like bunnies! (And FYI - but maybe more TMI - he certainly DOESN'T need to read those penis enlargement spam emails floating around, if you get my drift LOL).

Sunday we chilled out, went out for lunch and did a bit of shopping (he bought a few CDs, I bought a beanie). He also wanted to know when he could see me again. Which is going to be a tad difficult, seeing as I live in Wellington and he lives in Auckland.

Argh! Why is it I always (okay, an exaggeration) met guys who never live near me? I think I'm cursed. My last two serious relationships were partially long distance too. I'm so not good with long distance stuff (recent boyfriend and I broke up because he's gone on a 9 month shoot overseas and I don't want to wait around).

Josh left last night and we said we'd email, text, call and try and work out a way to see each other again. But, if it doesn't happen, it doesn't. I'll be bummed though - he is just a fantastic guy and I really do fancy him. A lot.

Of course, once he gets back to Auckland, I could just be written off as part of a great weekend away and never hear from him again...

Oh man, I'm so too old to be acting like this!

And maybe I shouldn't have blabbed about it on my blog... I've probably jinxed it now!

But I am having trouble keeping this stupid bloody grin off my face LOL.

*The All Blacks won, 35-17, but it wasn't a particularly great game, in fact, I was suitably unimpressed.

I woke up this morning with a scar of my face.

It wasn't there when I went to bed, so sometime between 11.30pm and 7.10am, I managed to acquire it. I hope I'm not beating myself up in my sleep or something...

It is the weirdest thing. It's about a centimetre below my lip, on the right side, about 4mm in length, 2mm wide. Its white. And quite noticeable! Argh. Shit. It's not a age spot is it? Nah, those are a brown colour. I'll just have to spackle on some concealer I guess. Weird.

Because today is Friday and it is miserable and disgusting outside, and I have scar, I needed to cheer myself up with some gratuitous shots of a hunk in trunks...

Matthew McConnaughey makes it all better now!

I'm looking forward to the rugby tomorrow night - All Blacks v Springboks (I'm picking the ABs by 12. The Boks are going to come out fighting after their thrasing by Australia). I'm going to the game, which will be a lot of fun - despite the fact that I'll have to sit next to an ex-boyfriend! About 5/6 years ago, we bought season tickets. We'd been together for about 5 years at that stage, so thought it was a good idea to purchase tickets right next to each other. We got a really good deal - great seats (covered, between the 22 and the halfway line). We broke up about 4 years ago and neither one of us wanted to give up our ticket! So everytime there's a game, I have to sit next to this guy! Luckily, we are in amongst friends so it's not too bad and, depending on my mood, I can ignore him by swapping seats with another friend LOL.

Well, I haven't done too badly - 62 out of 100. And yes, I haven't read the Bible. Well I read the Children's Picture Bible when I was 7, but with me being a total heathen and not really believing in a God or Gods, I don't really want to read it - though if I think of the Bible as a "great piece of fiction" like my uncle says, maybe I should?... Nah. And don't bother trying to persuade me to read the Harry Potter books either, I have zero interest in them LOL.

But boy, don't New Zealanders love Marian Keyes and Bryce Courtenay? It appears that every book they published made the list! I can't really believe the Da Vinci Code is number 1. Sure, it's entertaining and fluff, but the Best Book in the World? Not even! LOL

If you've made it this far down my post, congratulations! You've not died from boredom LOL.

I'm sad over the loss of my absolute favourite pair of black trousers.

It's a tragedy. It took me years to find them, the perfect pair of black trousers, and when I did find them I was ecstatic. They weren't too skinny or tapered, or too bootcut/flared. They weren't hipsters, nor were they high waisted. The material draped and fell wonderfully, the length was perfect (well, it was after I had them taken up about 4 inches LOL), they made my legs look longer and my butt smaller. A miracle pair of trousers they were! So miraculous that I'm afraid I wore them out LOL.

These were the Best Black Trousers in the World. We Wellington woman wear a lot of black, and black trousers are a staple wardrobe componment (I have about 4 pairs of black trousers LOL) for those of us trudging up Lambton Quay during the week.

Now if you're wondering why don't I just go and buy a new pair, I've tried. I've gone to every bloody store in the city - from el cheapo to middle of the road and even the boutiques and I can't seem to find a pair of black trousers like these *sob*. I bought these in Melbourne last year, so perhaps I'm just going to have to get myself over there again, head to David Jones, and find the perfect pair of trousers again (and just my luck, they probably don't make this style anymore).

So, to cheer myself up. I'm going to think of Wentworth Miller.

I'm starting to feel better now LOL.

I know it's not much to look at. But I used to live about 100 metres from this house and everyday I would walk past it and think "I want this house".

Everyone I know thinks I love modern architectural designed homes. And I do. I love minimalism and sleek lines. But I love these older villas more. This villa was built around 1900, has two original ornate fireplaces, a Matai curved staircase and a clawfoot bath tub. (If you want to know how I know this, I got it from the real estate website LOL) Sure, it needs a lot of work done, but it has really good bones and structure. It's a grand old dame!

My current flat has the same feel to it too - it is also a villa built around 1900s LOL. I seem to like those.

Unfortunately, I can't afford this one - rateable value is NZ$500,000! So I imagine asking price would be a higher than that. Bit steep for this single girl (unless of course, I met a rich old man... or won lotto!). It would cost that much again to restore it. Wonder if I should check out the open home on the weekend... dreaming here... LOL

Yesterday I met up with a good friend of mine for lunch. Also at lunch was my friend's sister and their mother.

Both my friend and her sister have recently got engaged, so the majority of the conversation was about weddings. None of this interested me, as my friend well knows, so she did try and steer the conversation away LOL (bless her).

But her mother! Oh man. What a fucking nightmare!

They were already at a table when I got to the cafe, and as I walked over the mother gave me a thorough once over, looking me up and down in a not very subtle way at all and looking at me like I was loopy for wearing a dress over jeans LOL. I felt like saying "honey, I'm not the one that's fashion impaired! You're wearing Jean Jones!".

As we were chatting, the coversation moved to relationships and weddings, the mother looked pointedly at me and said, "well I think there's nothing more sad than a single woman in her 30s...they get fat and depressed and then they will never find a man if they're fat!"

What the hell?

"I couldn't bear it if my girls never got married or had children... it's just so selfish" (another pointed look at me).

She continuted to talk on and on about "selfish career women" and how she "can never understand why a woman wouldn't want to get married and have children". (again, another stare at me).

Are you fucking kidding me? I so desperately wanted to say something to her, but the look on my friend and her sister face was enough for me to bite my tongue. They were embarrassed as hell. And I didn't want to say something nasty to this woman, even though she so deserved a bitch slapping! Unreal.

On the way home, my friend was very apologetic about her mother. I said I didn't want to say something nasty, so I just shut up LOL.

I'm so glad that my mother is not a complete nutter! I've never heard her say anything so ridiculous to me. But I guess I've been saying I don't want to get married or have kids since I was about 11, so she's probably given up all hope LOL. At least my sister has popped out three kids, so at least she's got some grandkids.

I am feeling a little bereft today.

What am I going to do now that I can't watch gorgeous men in shorts run around getting all hot and sweaty, chasing a ball around a field, celebrating a goal by hugging and jumping all over each other the football world cup? I guess now that the NPC, sorry, the Air New Zealand Cup is about to start, I'll get into that. It's not the same though. Not as many gorgeous talented players, apart from Dan Carter, Doug Howlett, Richie McCaw and Shannon Paku, the Air New Zealand cup is seriously lacking some sporting eye candy LOL.

I am glad it is Friday though. I've had a full-on busy week. I've got no plans tonight, it'll just be me, half a bottle of 42 Below, Jack Bauer and Rove. Wow. Do I know how to have a good time or what!

Last night I dreamed that I cat-sat for Michael Kors while he was on holiday.

To thank me for looking after his two kitty-cats, he took me back to his New York store and chose an entire wardrobe for me. Including the most incredible dress (which I think if you check his
website, is the creamy-beige strapless ruffle dress in the Spring 2006 collection LOL).

Talk about a great dream! I woke up happy and delighted, only to plummet back to earth quickly when I realised it wasn't real LOL. It seemed so real though LOL. I know how nuts that sounds. I mean, I hate cats, so why would I cat-sit? LOL But the dream-store was the real store I remember going to a few years ago LOL ( I bought a top, it was expensive but exquisite and I think I wore it to death LOL).

I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - Dead Man's Chest this afternoon. It was quite enjoyable, Johnny Depp is a hoot. He runs rings around the other two - Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. Keira doesn't so much act, as pout. Ditto for Orlando. I'm not an Orlando fan, he's very...fey, effete... girly looking. Blech. But Johnny. Oh Johnny. He is a blast. It's not as funny as the first film, but the story is set up nicely for the third and final film.

After the film, I went and booked a holiday! Unfortunately not to the Caribbean LOL. I booked a three-week trip to England and Italy! I'm going at the end of the year for Christmas, I'll spend a week in London with my family and then two weeks with my friends Kath and Tommy, who live in Puglia (it's the boot heel bit of Italy). Very cool. Kath and Tommy are English, but live six months of the year in Italy. They live in a trulli, which is a stone dwelling with a conical roof. They've been renovating it for ages, the last time I saw it, it still had cow dung on the floor and was falling to bits LOL. Lucky Tommy is a builder, so he's rebuilt and renovated it all himself. I can't wait to see them and the house. Of course, I have yet to pay for the tickets, so maybe I should concentrate on getting the money together first LOL.

Oh and I'll be getting up early tomorrow morning and heading to the pub (going to a pub at 6am versus leaving one is quite a new concept LOL) to watch the Football World Cup final! Go Italia! I win $100 if Italy beats France!

I've just spent an hour trying to work out what I'm going to wear tomorrow night. I'm meeting a friend, Tattoo Freaky Boy, for dinner. I used to work with Tattoo Freaky Boy and we've been friends for a few years (and alright, I shagged him earlier this year LOL). He's younger than me, by about 5 or 6 years, and as his name suggests, he's got a lot of tattoos, a few piercings and is very cool. He's also incredibly bright and talented, funny and thoughtful. We get on really well and I'm actually looking forward to catching up with him, as I haven't seen him for a month or so. Now if I could just work out what to wear! I'm meeting him right after work, so haven't got time to go home and get changed. I guess I'll have to lug a few things to work and get dressed there. I'm thinking a Victorian/Military look, but with sexy boots LOL.

As I'm typing this I'm watching Rockstar: Supernova. Gee, the tattoo count is high there. I reckon it must be a pre-requisite for a rock star ... great singer? check, good looking? check, more than five tattoos? check? LOL

I'll have to watch the whole show before I make my mind up. This year, us kiwis get to vote. Not sure if I'll do it, maybe towards the end.

I had today off sick from work. I had the worst stomach virus (diarrhoea), I think it might have been caused by the tomato and capsicum soup I had for lunch yesterday LOL (which is a shame, as that's my favourite flavour and now I'm not going to want to eat that for awhile). To make this day even crappier (oh, bad choice of words LOL), in a mad dash to the bathroom this morning, I stepped on a piece of glass (I'd accidently dropped a glass yesterday and must have missed this huge piece when I cleaned it up!). So now I'm hopping all over the place. Man. I'm so glad this day is almost over. It sucked.

However, one thing that didn't suck was Superman Returns. You don't know how surprised I was to actually enjoy the film LOL. Visually it's great, amazing special effects and it looks expensive. Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is fantastic. The guy that played Clark/Superman looked quite a lot like Christopher Reeve (though I hear he bats for the other team, what a shame) LOL. I'd actually recommend it, big budget entertainment is sometimes good. (I can't believe I said that LOL).

I've been thinking about love triangles today. Not me in that triangle though, the last tug-of-love relationship I had between two men was when I was 4 and J.J and Gary fought over who could push me around the kindergarten grounds in the red wagon LOL.

I've been thinking about love triangles because I read Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich and I'm about to see Superman Returns tonight (not my movie choice I swear, I wanted to see Russian Dolls). In Twelve Sharp, the main character Stephanie Plum is in a love triangle (of sorts) with Joe Morelli and Ranger. In Superman Returns, Superman returns to earth to find Lois Lane shacked up with another bloke and she's had a kid (what's the bet the kid is really Supermans? A secret baby plot *groan*).

The reason I bring up these two is that I always, 100% guarantee it, I like the guy/girl the main character NEVER ends up with.

Philadelphia Story, Pearl Harbour (man, was that a donkey of a film or what?), Friends, Grey's Anatomy...all examples of where I like the "other" person. I mean, really, what does McDreamy see in Meredith? She's scrawny, whiny and pouty. Addison is gorgeous, smart and very stylish (check out her shoes! LOL).

I guess what I'm hoping is that Stephanie will pick Ranger and that Lois Lane will not pick Superman. How cool would that be?!

This is the man who broke a million people's hearts today.

Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the penalty shoot out, Ronaldo scored the winning penalty, and sent England home. Yay Portugal!

I'd love to see an Italy/Portugal final, think of all the gorgeous men to watch in shorts! LOL.

And speaking of hot sportsmen, check out this link of nekkid French Rugby Players. Phwaor! By the way, it's probably not a safe link to click on at work LOL.

So I had an overnight guest stay last night - Dan*, freelance photographer, tall and lanky, nice hands - normally I don't like to bring guys back to my flat, I prefer to er, sleep at their place, so I can just leave and go home without any fuss in the morning. But last night I seemed to want to do things differently, so I brought Dan home with me LOL.

This morning Dan left without too much trouble (it wasn't too awkward actually) and I went about my normal Saturday stuff, then at about 12.30pm, Dan was back! Ack! At first I thought he'd left something behind, like his watch or wallet, but no. He was at my front door, with coffee and a paperbag of goodies from Pandoro Bakery. What a sweetie. He stayed for an hour or so before leaving, and I once again, went back to my Saturday routine.

Then, at about 6.30pm I get a phone call from, that's right, Dan! For fucks sake, this guy is like a boomerang LOL. He wanted to know if I'd like to meet up with him and a few of his friends for drinks at the pub. I said no (obviously, as I'm sitting here at 7.50pm typing this up).

And this is why I don't let guys stayover. Now he knows where I live! Crap.

*Not his real name
