Things are about to change at Casa de Poptart.

I'm about to get a housemate. A permanent one. Of the human male variety.

Long story, but now my ex is back from his 6 odd months travelling and working abroad, we've met up and hashed out a few things. I finally relented compromised and we will now be living together.

It's a big step for me. Last guy I lived with turned a good longterm relationship (five years) into a battlefield.

Anyway, I'm going to keep positive about this.

Think of all the good things about living together:

1. Someone to reach the high kitchen cupboards
2. Someone to put the wheelie bin/rubbish out each week
3. Regular sex (the Rabbit and the Pocket Rocket will go into semi-retirement LOL)
4. A bigger, newer TV and DVD player
5. Use of a car
6. Someone to cook for me for a change
7. Someone to come home to after a long day at work (ooh, I can try out the "honey, I'm home" line)
8. Someone to cuddle up to in bed on a Sunday morning with the papers and cup of tea
9. Someone to calm down my rather obsessive complusiveness relating to housework
10. Regular sex!

So Saturday night's U2 concert rocked!

I know U2 have their detractors, but they seriously rocked the Mt Smart stadium.

I've heard from people that saw both concerts (Friday night was the first), and they said that Saturday night was the better night. Well of course, they knew I was going to be there LOL.

They played older stuff as well as their newer stuff (have to say I'm a bigger fan of their older stuff), there was a bit of political posturing (but really, that was to be expected).

The only downside to the whole night was that I was feeling really shitty. Really bad nausea, stomach cramps. But I didn't let a little thing like puking put me off LOL. Though the dope smoking made me feel really queasy, so I had to move to a less croweded part of the stadium to get some fresh air and space. I wish they would've enforced the 'no smoking' thing, but then I am a bit of a nana when it comes to that.

I can't find the U2 tickets.

Sob.

I've looked every-freaking-where in my house. They are nowhere to be seen.

What the fuck am I going to do if I can't find the tickets?

Can they issue new ones if I show them my credit card payment?

Oh man, I feel slightly queasy. This sucks! I need to calm down... deep breaths Tart, deep breaths.

Right, now I'm going to destroy my office in the vain hope that maybe I left them in a "safe" place here.

Edited (Friday 24 November, 1.24pm): I found them! I was feeling very panicky there for a moment (well, more than a moment, 24-freaking-hours). They were in my passport. Don't ask me why I put them with my passport, considering the concert is in NZ and I'm hardly going to need a passport to fly to Auckland (the Hutt, of course, is another story LOL). So yay. I feel so much better now.

Every morning I go for a slow jog/brisk walk, following a coastal road along a few beaches and bays. It's very picturesque and a nice walk with some flat bits and a few hills.

However, the quickest way back to the main road and to my house, is up 413 steps.

That's right, 413!

Ugh.

I've been doing this walk for a few months now, and those steps are a fucking bitch. I plod up them slow and steady, taking a wee breather at about 257 LOL.

Well, today was a rather momentous day. I jogged up the steps without stopping!

When I got to the top, I was so pleased with myself, I did a little jig on the spot.

It was my very own Rocky moment.

I've had such a busy week at work...can't wait for the weekend.

I've been invited to Thanksgiving lunch that a few of my American friends are having on Sunday.

Now, being the good kiwi girl I am, I thought I could take a traditional thanksgiving dish with me, and did a bit of a google search for recipes.

No offense Americans, but some of these recipes sound a bit, well, weird!

Such as:

Candied Yams? I'm sorry, but a sweet potato (yam) is a savoury vegetable not a sweet. And to cover it in butter and pecans/walnuts sounds a bit off.

Next up is Orange Sherbet Salad, which is orange and lemon flavoured jelly (jello) layered with pineapple and mandarins. Not bad you say, I agree. I quite like jelly, reminds me of my childhood. Until I read that you eat it with Turkey. Ugh, no thanks LOL.

And I still don't get pumpkin pie. Pumpkin to me is again, a savoury vegetable, that I love roasted with my roast leg of lamb. I also like it roasted in a gourmet salad, or in vegetable lasagne. Not quite sure how it would be in a sweet pie.

In any case, I've decided to make these decandent brownies (I have a divine Nigella Lawson recipe), so that should go down a treat.

Oh, and only 8 sleeps till U2!

So, Friday night dinner wasn't too bad, in fact, I actually enjoyed myself. Lots of laughs, great food and wine. I didn't get too many "so how's your love life" type of questions (which to be honest, I would've fibbed about anyway, although these are close friends, they really don't need to be hearing about the "takeaways" I've been having lately LOL).

Saturday was chilled out, nice weather made it a lovely 'prelude to summer' type of day. I watched the All Blacks beat France (47-3) Yay. But you know, the French are the only team in the world that I don't mind if the All Blacks lose to. I think it's because they play with flair and style, unpredictable rugby (though they didn't show any of that on Sunday morning!). Oh and another reason why I don't mind if the French win... this!

On Sunday I went for a run...okay jog... alright, brisk walk around the athletic track that is in the park across the road from my house. I've decided I'm going to go there every Sunday, because... it is a mecca for attractive, bare chested men running around! People, I hit the motherlode! Lots of fit and sweaty men. I went cross eyed trying to watch them run and watch where I was going (as I am rather clumsy). How I never knew this was a local runners haunt is a damn shame. Think of all the Sunday mornings I missed! Damn. What have I been doing on a Sunday morning that meant I missed this... oh yeah watching, the Home & Away omnibus LOL.

Sunday was such a nice day, that after brunch with a few girlfriends, we all piled into the car and drove to the beach! Granted the weather really wasn't perfect beach weather (a bit too windy), it was so nice to be outdoors in the sun.

And now there's only 12 more sleeps till U2!

So, last night I came home after going to an art exhibition opening (art = good, pretentious wanky art types = bad) to watch Bridget Jones's Diary on tv.

I like Bridget. I've been reading her exploits since the mid-90s (back when "she" was a column in a newspaper) and I've lost count of the number of times I've read the books.

I thought the first movie was done really well, funny, sweet and dorky Bridget in all her glory. And how gorgeous was Hugh Grant? I liked him as Daniel, a total shit for sure, but a cute one.

So there I am, fluffy PJs on, big glass of red wine, on the couch, alone and lo! There's Bridget, fluffy PJs on, big glass of red wine, on the couch, alone and singing into a magazine LOL.

And just like Bridget, tonight I have to suffer through attend a dinner at my friends house. Everyone else invited are engaged or married couples, except for moi. Shit. They better have decent fucking wine.

And to make it worse, Bridezilla will be there! No doubt she'll harass me about something to do with her wedding).

Jesus help me. They really better have decent fucking wine!

So, I didn't win the Melbourne Cup. Despite picking the favourite in the office sweepstakes! Dammit. I am so bloody unlucky. I don't think the two horses I chose at the TAB even finished in the top 5. Useless blimmin' donkeys! LOL.

Saw a great little funny film last night. It's a mockumentary Australian film about Kenny, who delivers port-a-loos to events. I thought it was very good, I love that Aussie humour.

What does it say in the "Good Friends Handbook" about dating your friends brother? LOL. I met my friend Steve's older brother last night at dinner. He's been living in London for the last 12 years and has come back to NZ to live. I'd never met him before (what with him being in London and all LOL) but we really clicked. Like seriously good chemistry between us. Sparks even! LOL.

He's an economic analyst (smart), has a dimple (I am such a sucker for dimples), dark hair and dark brown eyes. Articulate, witty and has a very dry sense of humour. He must be in his mid to late-30s (so not a toyboy!). He gave me his phone number but I'm not sure what the protocol is (if there is one) regarding going out with your dearest friends brother. Is it taboo? Is it a line that I shouldn't cross? Help me out people LOL. I really like him. But I don't want to do anything that would strain the friendship I have with Steve.

Oh and in 17 days I will be seeing U2. Yay. Finally. This is the concert that was postponed in March, after The Edge's daughter was ill. I can't wait. They will (hopefully) rock! I will have to go with my ex-boyfriend though, as he bought the tickets. Should be okay though. I've been in contact with him and we've kinda got an arrangement. Though if Cute Older Brother (COB) works out, that arrangement might not happen LOL.

It's a huge racing event in Australia, and here in NZ as well. They call it "the race that stops the nation".

We're about to do the office sweepstakes. We each put in $2 per horse. I've got two horses, I hope it's not a repeat of last year where I picked a donkey that crawled in last LOL.

I'm not actually a big gambler, but this is the one time in the year where I'll step foot in a TAB LOL, I've just put down $20 (hey last of the big spenders! LOL) - $5 each way on Yeats and Geordieland.

Wish me luck.

(They better not be donkeys!).

So today is a lovely sunny and warm spring day and I thought I'd take my salad with me and go sit in one of the smallish but popular city parks. So I trundled down with my homemade salad, huge sunnies and book (Labyrinth, Kate Mosse). The park was chokka, loads of suits and city workers but I managed to find a nice wee possie in the sun.

Where I witnessed what I can only describe was "Porn on the Lawn". Seriously over the top "would you get a room, please!" PDA. The couple were young, probably early 20s and they were lying in the middle of the park, on the grassy lawn, he was on top of her and they were kissing and grinding away, with not a care in the world.

I sat in this park for a good hour and they did not stop once! (Not that I spent the entire time watching them LOL).

Onlookers were either horrified, oblivious or amused. I fell in between horrified and amused, probably leaning more towards "euw gross" than anything LOL.

I tell you, the youth of today.... they're another breed.

'Cos in my day.... LOL

(We did it cars and behind the bike sheds LOL)
