I wrote the first "meh" files about romance authors. You can read that scintillating post here.

I've watched these shows, some I gave up on after two or three episodes and others I watched for a season or two in the vain hope that they'd improve. They didn't.

Desperate Housewives - I managed to watch 3 episodes before all the eyerolling I was doing gave me massive headaches. Not funny. Not sexy. And I really dislike Teri Hatchetface. She can't act! (And she's too damn scrawny, euw).

Lost - I gave up after the first season. Too many "oh come on!" moments (not just about the plot but have you noticed that while the men have scruffy beards from not shaving, the same cannot be said for the women's armpits?). I started to watch Season 2, but gave up after watching half the first episode. Not even Sayid could save it! (He is so damn fine...). I think the writers are trying too hard to be clever.

House - I just don't see the appeal of this one. Hugh Laurie's American accent is dire. Plus, Hugh will always be
Prince George to me LOL

Survivor - I've watched only one season of this - the All Stars one I think. While the host is cute (dimples!) he's simply not enough to keep me watching this. It's repititive and formulaic and they cast imbeciles. Of course, it's not reality when it's edited to play out like a soap opera.

Joey- Would someone please explain to me how this is funny? And how this gets picked up for a second season? Drivel. And to think Joey was my favourite on Friends.

Bones - This show, based on the novels by Kathy Reichs, made me think that it might be okay. I was wrong. Absolutely NO chemistry between the leads (Deschanel and Boreanaz) and overacting by the rest, so I stopped watching after two episodes.

Medium - Boring and wimpy leading actress. Snore.

CSI: Miami, CSI: New York - Can't stand David Caruso's wooden acting in Miami and New York just doesn't have the chemistry between people that the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation does.

Gilmore Girls - They talk too much, too fast and are too whiny.

Grey's Anatomy - Admittedly, I do like this show, it's fresh and quite smart. I think Burke (Isaiah Washington) is so freak-deaky hot, that he totally eclipses McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey). George (who cares who plays him) annoys me though. He's too dithery, wimpy and pathetic to be a surgeon...I want to yell at him to get a backbone. Plus, I think Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is going the way of Renee...pouty mouth, squinty eyes and too scrawny.

Now you're probably thinking I'm a TV snob. I'm not. Some of my favourite TV shows are: Family Guy, Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, America's Next Top Model and The O.C.

Yeah, you can't be a TV snob if you love The O.C and America's Next Top Model.

I'm not really into winter sports, so I haven't been watching the Winter Olympic Games in Torino (um, since when has Turin been known as Torino? Probably a marketing ploy to make it sound more Italian LOL).

But last night, after I came home from seeing No. 2 (sweet film, it won the Audience Award at Sundance this year - quirky kiwi drama/comedy), I flicked on the TV and watched a bit of the Ice Dancing.

And oh. Words cannot describe the monstrosities that assaulted my eyes.

What is up with the FUGLY costumes?

The commentators were talking about how some of the competitors had fallen or made mistakes and therefore their scores had deductions, but I'd like to see the judges deduct points off for crimes against fashion. These costumes below are the worst offenders.

Tartan? Tartan? Oh, I get it. They must be the British pair.

Never have butterflies looked uglier.

When you think of Italian fashion you think style and class. Well this Italian pair are here to prove you wrong! You've got burgundy velvet, pale blue chiffon and gold sequins. And, although this picture doesn't show it too well, you have a gold sequinned headband on the woman.
Yeah, Italian style is great.

I have no words. Honestly. Nothing I can say can convey how horrific this is.

Sing along now people..."come on, let me see you shake your tail feather". What on fug is that blue thing coming out of her arse? And the leopard print? I feel a little queasy.

Why is it that figure skating competitors have such ugly costumes? Why can't they wear simple, plain but stylish attire? I understand it's all part of their "theme" but surely their "theme" can be classy and not use fabrics such as velvet or tartan.

And don't get my started on the boots. I think a call to Mr Blahnik is in order.

So, a new look for the blog...it's quite pink isn't it?

Oh well, I like it and that's all that matters LOL.

And to celebrate the new look, here's another picture of BAFTA Award winner Jake Gyllenhaal.

Have you ever had a day or days where everything is just so wonderful, just so great that you take a mental snapshot and hope the memory is one you remember always?

Well, that was my weekend.

I went to a wedding this weekend, a dear friend that I've known since the first day of university when we sat next to each other in Introduction to Politics 110.

The wedding took place in this wonderful restored lodge in a quiet cove, only accessible by water taxi. It's set in pristine forest with incredible views over the water. Simply stunning. I was there with three of my closest girlfriends, and we stayed on a boat that was moored off the pier. Talk about an idyllic setting. And the boat. Oh wow. Sleek and modern (I had to admit, when my girlfriend said she'd booked us to stay on a boat, I had visions of some rusty old tug LOL). But this was lovely and quite roomy too. There were about 12 of us in total staying on the boat, all wedding guests.

The wedding day itself was picture postcard perfect. Sunny blue skies, no clouds and a soft breeze. The wedding was held outside in the gardens of the lodge, it was quite a big wedding with probably over 300 guests invited but it still managed to feel like a small and intimate ceremony. The bride walked down the aisle on her own in a dress that was strapless, fitted and showed off her curves. It reminded me of an Azzedine Alaia designed dress, sexy and stylish but not slutty LOL. No bridesmaids or flower girls (I think anyone over the age of 25 should not have bridesmaids, nothing as tragic as a group of 30 year old women in pale pink chiffon LOL). The groom looked tanned and handsome and slightly nervous.

The reception was a lot of fun, the best food and wine on offer and I got to sit at a great table with really interesting people. I've been to a few weddings over the last 3 years (I am the last in my group of high school and university friends who is not engaged or married LOL) and this wedding had the best music by far. We danced the night away, with me and my three girlfriends not leaving the marquee until about 4am where we had stayed dancing and drinking with the bride's father, the groom's father and brother and a few other hardened party-goers.

The girls and I went back to our boat (after pilfering a few bottles of champagne) and sat on deck, drinking and talking and watched the sun rise over the water. It sounds cliched and trite, but it really was breathtaking and quite special. At about 7.30am, Erin (one of my girlfriends) decided that we needed to wake ourselves up by going swimming off the boat. So we shimmied into togs and did dive bombs off the side of the boat into the rather cold water LOL. It was certainly really relaxing to float on the water, looking at the sky and hearing nothing but the waves (and the occasional laugh or giggle from the girls).

I had to leave by about 10.00am to catch my flight back, I would've liked to have stayed for the rest of the day as it was a glorious day to be out on the water (and not to mention to get some sleep). The BF picked me up from the airport and instead of taking me home, drove us straight to the beach where he went surfing and skin diving and I prompty fell asleep LOL. I managed to get about a two hour kip before my stomach woke me (it felt like eating sushi apparently) and the BF and I went into town, where he uttered those three little words a girl like me loves to hear... "let's go shopping". Oh be still my heart.

I ended up buying wine glasses and more of this miracle rosehip oil from Trilogy that I adore. It's not often that I rave about cosmetics or skincare, but this stuff is amazing. I've been using it since Christmas and have really noticed a difference in my skin, no lines or wrinkles (but then my fat face tends to fill those in LOL) and its smoother, firmer and more hydrated. Have I sold you on it? Good. Go buy it. The BF bought clothes mostly (and succumbed to my ever so helpful style tips LOL).

After our shopping excursion we grabbed some takeaways and went back to the beach to eat them and watch a lone surfer.

Then it was back to my place for some wild monkey lovin'...okay, that's a lie. I fell asleep on the couch while watching a BBC version of The Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath even the promise of top tottie Paul Nicholls couldn't keep my eyes open.

So yeah. I'd have to say that this weekend was a pretty bloody good one.

**Disclaimer: I'm liable to change my mind as the year progresses.

I'm working on a few template changes for the blog, a new look so to speak.

I shall hopefully have something new up shortly.

Last night I went to see Walk the Line.

A great film with fantastic performances from both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. I think Phoenix is an incredibly talented actor. He has this intensity that is very sexy. He was really believable as Johnny Cash (probably helped by the fact that he did all the singing too).

He has however, knocked Jake Gyllenhaal off the top of my "Would Definitely Shag" list LOL. (Jake's still on the list, but now he's after Joaquin and Johnny Depp).

Now that is damn sexy!

After the film, I went home and dragged out a few CDs and found a copy of "Live at Folsom Prison" which I think I bought in 2001 or 2002. I put that on and the BF and I drank a few vodka's (in keeping with Johnny Cash's memory).

This morning, as I staggered bleary-eyed and messy-haired to the kitchen to put on some coffee, I happened to glance out of my kitchen window to the park across the road and I saw a guy standing in the park. Nothing unusual in that, as I often spot early morning joggers or people out with their dogs etc.

Except this guy isn't just standing there doing nothing.

Oh no. This guy is standing there, looking into my kitchen window wanking! Yep. He's masturbating in the park. Okay, okay, it took me a while to figure out what the hell he was doing (I didn't have my contact lenses in and he was about 30 metres away, so I had to look really hard LOL). But euw. Dirty boy.

Happy Valentines Day to me.

As you know, a few weeks ago the bf and I had decided to take a break from each other. I've not spoken to him, emailed him or text messaged him since then and so I was rather suprised to see him on my doorstep on Saturday morning.

He had just finished a morning dive and came bearing a fish. Yes. A fish. Some girls get flowers, and I get a bloody fish. So, I invited him in (it was a really nice looking fish LOL) and we talked. It wasn't pretty at times - I really wish I could cry and still look beautiful (you know, a solitary tear falling down a perfect cheek LOL), but no, I get all snotty and puffy red eyes - but we did talk about some of our issues and although not all of them are resolved, at least we're both on the same page and both agree that we do want to be together.

So I guess I can put away the vodka and the chocolate for the time being (bummer, though I'm sure my flabby arse is thanking me).

I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday. Wow. What a great movie. I thought the acting was superb by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway have certainly come along way from Dawson's Creek and The Princess Diaries LOL. Ledger's performance was subtle and you really saw that his character, Ennis, was such a sad and heartbreaking lonely person. Jake's performance as Jack was just as good, probably even better. You know Jack just wanted Ennis with no regard to what others thought. He was the risktaker.

I have to wonder though, why some theatres are banning the film. I don't think it is a very controversial story. At its heart is a tender and very poignant love story. Between two men yes, but it isn't a very explicit film (if you want explicit - check out
Priest). I had been warned to "take a tissue" as it was a sad movie, but I didn't find it the tearjerker that other movie goers seem to have. So, highly recommed you see this one.

Also, this movie just re-affirmed my total crush on Jake Gyllenhaal that I've had since watching him in Donnie Darko LOL.

I mean really, he's just so damn fine.

  • Weddings are bloody expensive, and I'm only a guest. I just worked out what going to this wedding next weekend with a bunch of girlfriends is going to cost me. Flights = $300, Accommodation (aboard a "luxury" yacht so must take anti-nausea pills LOL) = $400, Wedding Gift = $100, Dress = $150, Earrings = $70. That's over $1000! It had better be a damn good wedding and I'll be fucked off if I get put at the rejects table LOL.
  • I wonder what the "special conditions" are for the poster outside Mermaids (strip club) that advertised for "Ladies Wanted. Make Up to $1000 a week. Special conditions apply".
  • What is up with Madonna and those bloody leotards! She's been wearing one in every photo shoot, video etc since she released "Confessions from a Dance Floor".
  • Lindsay Lohan's new tattoo is rather cool. I like the white ink. The trite word "Breathe" not so cool. Perhaps she should've put "Snort" 'cos you know the girl likes her nose candy LOL.

  • Having only 2hrs and 43mins of sleep last night/this morning is starting to have its effect (yes, it's lack of sleep, not the quantity of alcohol consumed).
  • I cannot believe that Jennifer Aniston weighs 48kgs! I think the last time I weighed under 50kgs I was about 13 *sob*.
  • I can't decide what movie to go and see tonight - Brokeback Mountain or Walk the Line.
  • Yay! Today is payday.

I am a bloody marvellous and fantastic person!

And no, this is not part of some sort of daily affirmation or anything LOL.

I organised a large awards ceremony which was held last night. And it went off without a hitch (okay, so there was one or two quibbles) but nothing that impacted on the event itself.

Everyone seemed to have a great time. The alcohol was good, the food outstanding and the speeches (which I wrote for both the CEO and the Ambassador) were very well received. (I got claps people. Claps! Yay me LOL).

I was congratulated by all the award recipients on organising such a great event, how it was an honour to be there.

Then this morning the CEO and a few Directors came into my office to tell me that it was a great event, they had nothing but positive feedback and that I'd done a wonderful job.

Aw man. I feel so good. I am one of those people who really thrives on positive reinforcements LOL.

I'm still on a high...and of course, I keep forgetting that the next big event I'm helping with, is a three day outdoor festival that attracts over 150,000 and it starts on Friday. This Friday.

Yep. I'm gonna be a busy wee chicca for the next week or so. At least it keeps my mind off the boyfriend issue though (and my mouth away from the Tim Tams and vodka LOL).

I am the laziest person.

It's a public holiday, the sun is shining, it's hot and the perfect day to be doing something fun outdoors.

And what am I doing?

Sitting inside, slightly hungover, wearing tracksuit pants and t-shirt, eating Chocomalt*, and blog hopping all the while watching crap TV and drinking Mud Slides**. Add bed hair, glasses and greasy skin to complete the picture.

I guess I'm in a bit of a funk. The BF and I are "on a break" and I'm being all "Poptart. Spinster & Lunatic". Next thing I'll be singing "All by myself" into a hair brush a la Bridget Jones.

It's really pathetic. I must stop. Or at least get my arse off the couch.

Nah, maybe later. Neil Perry Food Source has just started on TV.

*Chocolate slice made with malt biscuits, sent with love from my nana. Bless.

**Cocktail made with Kahlua, Baileys, Vodka & Milk.

The Wellington Axa International Sevens tournament starts today.

Sevens is seven-a-side rugby game. Each game is only 20 minutes (I think) long, ten minutes per half. It's a fast paced, running game and hugely entertaining to watch. This tournament is held over two days and comprises of teams from Argentina, USA, South Africa, England, Kenya, Canada, Australia, Samoa, Scotland, Tonga, France and New Zealand (I'm missing a few...).

I've been to Seven's tournaments all over the world (oh-er, get me LOL). I've been to Japan, Hong Kong (twice), London (twice), Paris (twice) and of course, Wellington.

The Wellington Sevens is a big event. Massive crowds, in particular large groups of people dressed up in costumes. It's a huge fun party! I usually spend more time people watching and checking out hot guys (both on and off the pitch) than I do watching the rugby. The atmosphere and the crowd is energetic (aided I'm sure by the alcohol available).

But this year will be the first time in four years I won't be going. I did have tickets, but I gave them to a friend (reasons why are long and boring LOL). I will however, catch up with friends/family after for drinks at numerous bars along Courtenay Place.

I expect the liver to take a bit of punishing this weekend. Ah, fun times.

  • I probably shouldn't have worn this top today. It's a pink wrap top, with a v neck. However, the v is quite deep, so I'm showing an alarming amount of boob! Oh well, if you've got it, flaunt it...

  • $3 glasses of bubbles are the best after work treat.

  • I love my new sunglasses.

  • Family Guy is the fucking funniest TV show.

  • The Kirks sale is a load of crap. The bring out all this junk you've never seen before and try to hock it off. I never see their regular stock on sale, oh no. It's always fugly stuff. Bastards.

  • Paperdoll Heaven is so cool.

  • M's wedding is next weekend. Should I hire that pretty dress (cost $150) or buy the stunning dress I saw on sale at ZFA for $175?

  • I hope I see that gorgeous guy on the bus again tonight

  • Super 14 starts soon!

  • I really need to buy new sheets.
  • Should I tell my co-worker he has really heinous halitosis? ("Dude, your breath stinks" seems a bit harsh).
  • I read my Chinese New Year horoscope, apparently Tigers (that's me) match well with Dogs and Pigs. How funny. That describes a few ex-boyfriends to a tee.

Today was brought to you by the letter P and the number 7.
